B-17 Belly Landing Ball Turret Crushed Gunner Tragedy: Separating Fact from Fiction

In the Amazing stories episode titled, "The Mission” a B-17 was damaged due to an air-to-air engagement. Ball turret gunner could was trapped in the turret and the bombers landing gear would not deploy. The stories premise is the he gunner would be crushed on landing.
