The 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday brought the Indonesian Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan to a standstill with both local and international tourists. Public enthusiasm was evident in the high number of visits. According to data from the IKN Authority, as of March 24, 2026, 143,126 people visited, with 30,544 vehicles entering the IKN area. This influx of visitors also had a positive impact on MSMEs. During the Eid al-Fitr period, business turnover increased significantly. In fact, MSMEs selling Indonesian souvenirs recorded sales that doubled compared to normal days, particularly from sales of traditional Indonesian clothing. Visitors shared various stories about experiencing the development of the Indonesian archipelago firsthand. Some felt a different atmosphere from their first visit, even describing it as being like being in a science fiction movie. The experience varies from visitor to visitor, but one thing remains constant.
