I built a fantastic shelter: one above-ground level and one basement level. Solo Survival Welcome back to the channel! In this episode of solo bushcraft and survival, I’m taking on my most ambitious building project yet. Deep in the forest, I spent days designing and constructing a unique, two-story survival cabin completely from scratch. As you can see in edited-image.png, this isn't just a standard lean-to. I wanted to challenge myself by creating a dual-level living space that maximizes both comfort and thermal efficiency: The Basement Level: Dug straight into the earth, this underground bunker features a custom brick and stone wood stove for cooking, built-in storage shelving for my supplies, and heavy-duty timber reinforcement to keep out the damp cold. The Upper Level: A cozy, elevated wooden cabin accessible via an internal ladder. It’s equipped with a comfortable sleeping area, a workspace, and a tall stone chimney that vents the smoke safely above the roofline. This project tested my limits—from excavation and heavy lifting to the final interior woodwork and lighting setup.
