Covenant and Church Hurt Part 1 Jay Kitazaki

Covenant and Church Hurt | Genesis 15–16 Bible Study In Genesis 15, God tells Abram, “Do not be afraid… I am your shield, your very great reward.” Yet Abram still wrestles with fear, lack, inheritance, and the question many believers know too well: Lord, how can I know? This study looks at the covenant God made with Abram, where God alone passes through the pieces, showing that He Himself guarantees the promise. Abram could not secure the covenant by his own righteousness, and neither can we. The covenant rests on the faithfulness of God, fulfilled ultimately in Jesus Christ. But Genesis 16 shows what happens when believers stop trusting God’s timing and try to force His promise through human effort. Sarai, Abram, and Hagar become a painful picture of how wounded people often wound others. Hagar is mistreated, driven into the wilderness, and yet the Lord meets her there as the God who sees. This message also speaks to church hurt. Sometimes believers wound other believers. Sometimes people run like Hagar and never look back. But God sees the wounded, calls His people to reconciliation, and reminds us that the failure of people is not the failure of Christ. Scripture: Genesis 15–16 Theme: Covenant, trust, Abraham, Sarah, Hagar, church hurt, reconciliation, the God who sees Message: God keeps His covenant, sees the wounded, and calls His people back to faithfulness. Key idea: God alone guarantees the covenant, and God sees the ones wounded by the failures of His people. #Genesis15 #Genesis16 #Abraham #Sarah #Hagar #ChurchHurt #BibleStudy #ChristianTeaching #TheGodWhoSees #Covenant #Faith #ChristianSermon #JesusChrist #Healing #Reconciliation
