Die Aspirationsgefahr bezeichnet das Eindringen eines flüssigen oder festen Stoffes oder Gemisches direkt über die Mund- oder Nasenhöhle oder indirekt durch Erbrechen in die Luftröhre und den unteren Atemtrakt. Dadurch kommt es zu schweren akuten Schäden der Lunge; schwere irreversible Schäden bis zum Tod sind möglich.
