New Mexico: The Balloon Fiesta, a 5K, Tacos, and Hikes, all while staying in an RV

We checked off our 20th state together by taking a road trip to New Mexico! We planned our trip during Albuquerque's International Balloon Fiesta, which is the world's LARGEST hot air balloon festival. Our time at the festival was limited, but we highly recommend this festival to anyone, whether you travel as a couple, a family, or even solo! There is something for everyone at this festival, and watching all of the balloons go up together is just mesmerizing. If you're feeling extra adventurous, there is also an event called the Great Balloon Chase held the same weekend as the festival, which hosts a 1/2 marathon, a 10k, and a 5k (which is what we did)! The race starts right as the balloons are ascending, so you have an incredible view of a sky full of hot air balloons during your run. We have never been to Mexico, and we are sure the tacos are out of this world there... But compared to every other U.S. state and the countries we have been to, the tacos in New Mexico are by far the BEST TACOS WE HAVE EVER HAD. We suggest stopping into RioTaco in Albuquerque or at Fusion Tacos taco truck in Santa Fe at 502 Old Santa Fe Trail Drive (there is an awesome coffee truck next to it as well). If we were to ever go back to New Mexico, we would plan to spend much more time in Santa Fe. We loved the vibe there WAY more than Albuquerque. Lodging: An RV on Airbnb located on the owner's ranch.
