25 Years of South Sound Storytelling with Josh Dunn

A city rises on the stories people tell about it. For 25 years, Josh Dunn has been telling the South Sound's. In this episode of Stories at Founders Square, Reid Fetters sits down with Josh Dunn, founder and CEO of Premier Media Group, the company behind South Sound Magazine, South Sound Business, 425 Magazine, 425 Business, Northwest Travel & Life, West Sound Magazine, and more. Josh launched Premier in 2001, right as the internet was about to flip the publishing world in its head. Nearly every regional publication that existed back then is gone. Premier didn’t survive. It grew, built a team of almost 30 people with an average tenure over a decade, went remote years before the world was forced to, and is now expanding into the Southwest, from Texas to California. We get into the decisions behind that staying power, why local journalism still matters in a world of influencers and overnight audiences, the one story in 25 years he still can't shake, and the hardest lesson building has taught him. Plus, what's next for Premier, for the South Sound, and for Josh personally as a brand-new grandpa. Stories at Founders Square is a series from The Rising Cities, recorded in downtown Tacoma. We sit down with the builders, operators, and storytellers shaping the future of the region, because cities grow through people, community, and place. #StoriesAtFoundersSquare #TheRisingCities #Tacoma #SouthSound #PremierMedia #LocalJournalism #FoundersSquare
