This footage is a bonus feature on the DVD included as a special supplement to the April 2024 issue of "Blue Impulse and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (EIWA MOOK)" (Eiwa Publishing). This is a gallery introducing the first generation Blue Impulse and photographer Eisuke Kurosawa. The First Generation Blue Impulse The first generation Blue Impulse: F-86 The original F-86F was the main fighter aircraft donated by the United States at the time. The Blue Impulse F-86F was established in August 1960 as the "Air Mobility Research Team" within the 2nd Squadron, 1st Air Wing, Hamamatsu Air Base. It is known for painting the Olympic rings at the Tokyo Olympics and the words "EXPO '70" in the sky at the opening ceremony of the Osaka Expo. Over 21 years, it conducted 545 official demonstration flights. It is also famous for the paint scheme, which was created by a film company designer after collaborating on a film production.
