It Never Slows Down Around Here #danangvietnam #whatsusandoes

Hi Friends! Join me for a day in the life in Da Nang, Vietnam on a Friday evening. I head out around 5pm to walk up the beach, passing construction sites, fruit vendors selling durian and packaged mango and pomelo, and a banh mi stand that has grown from a small street cart into a full corner shop with its own sauce bar. Along the way I talk about how to cross the street in Vietnam, why coconuts under palm trees can be dangerous, and how the community here looks out for one another, especially once the weather turns. The walk takes me past beach volleyball, a Friday night team building event with inflatables, and a meditation group that meets right on the sand. I run into a few friends along the way, including someone visiting from Bali, before heading to Friday night dancing at the beach plaza. A light rain moves through while we dance, but nobody seems to mind, and a stranger grabs a sarong to shelter someone from the drizzle. After dancing, six of us go to a Japanese sushi buffet for dinner. I share my buffet strategy and we work through oysters, sashimi, sushi rolls, and grilled seafood. Prices come up throughout the video in Vietnamese dong with the US dollar equivalent, so you can get a sense of the cost of food and daily life here. If you are curious about travel in Vietnam, everyday life in Da Nang, or just want to see what a typical Friday night looks like in this beach town, I hope you enjoy coming along.
