Dental Matrix Formed Cores (Crown Foundations)

The Matrix Formed Core (MFC) technique was introduced by Dr Livaditis over 25 years ago and continues to be used. When moderately or severely compromised teeth by fracture, caries or unreliable existing restorations must be restored with a core (foundation) for a crown, the MFC method replaces matrix bands, crown shell forms or copper tubes to form the cores. MFC enables the dentist to create a matrix of a tooth or segment of teeth. With simple "reverse carving" of the matrix, composite resin is used to form a core as a reliable crown abutment. The matrix is stabilized by adjacent teeth and allows single or multiple cores to be formed simultaneously. The video describes the method in detail and can be easily implemented.
