In addition to serving as mayor on two occasions, the former Dominican official served as Minister of Tourism (1982-1986; 2001-2004); deputy for the National District (1990-1994); and deputy for Barahona (1998). Suberví Bonilla was a presidential candidate for the Dominican Revolutionary Party in 2000, but the election was subsequently won by Hipólito Mejía. Four years later, Suberví was a vice presidential candidate in Mejía's presidential re-nomination.
