Brian Klock of Klock Werks sits down with world-renowned airbrush artist Mickey Harris in Menno, South Dakota, for one of the most inspiring conversations in True On 2 history. Mickey's story is the ultimate proof that passion, talent, and the right person believing in you can change everything. Mickey's journey started in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where, with zero experience, he picked up an airbrush for the first time and was put in a shop window as a live attraction within days. From painting T-shirts on the Florida beach and airbrushing custom vans fresh off the Dodge dealer lot, he became a fixture at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally starting in 1981 back when four blocks of Main Street were Sturgis, bikers paid in cash, and Americana ruled. He painted leather jackets, choppers, knuckleheads, panheads, shovelheads, and everything in between for 20 straight years. From Sturgis to SEMA. From custom motorcycles and airbrushed vehicles in the Ford, Chevy, and Dodge show booths to painting historical works for the Pentagon Art Program where Mickey helped create artwork for the largest art gallery in the United States, with over 10,000 paintings in the Air Force section alone. He published Airbrush Magazine for six years and taught airbrushing seminars across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. And when the 2008 banking collapse wiped out his seminar business, a chance job painting a '69 Trans Am in a small South Dakota farm town led him to his new home: Menno, South Dakota, population 600. Now, Mickey has poured 250 hours of airbrush work into a custom turbo trike for the Combat Control Foundation, a charity supporting Air Force Combat Controllers, the elite warriors who embed with Navy SEALs and Delta Force to call in airstrikes. The trike tells the complete story of 250 years of American history across every inch of its surface: Washington Crossing the Delaware, Lewis and Clark, the Civil War, Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address, Mount Rushmore, Rosie the Riveter, the flag raising at Iwo Jima, the moon landing, 9/11, Afghanistan, and right up to the present day.. all hand-airbrushed by Mickey, including a Klock Werks Flare® Windshield. The trike will be displayed at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on Main Street next to Easy Rider, then heads to Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas (September 10–12) where 100% of auction proceeds go to the Combat Control Foundation. Mickey also shares the deeply personal story of unveiling a painting at the Pentagon with the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and seeing the look in his father's eyes, a retired Air Force fighter pilot, in the audience that day.
