Woke up at 8. Crossed into Malawi officially. First stop? Karonga. Let me give you some history real quick — Malawi got independence from the UK. 3 regions. 80% Christian. Multiple languages. Currency rate? 1 USD = 1,700 Kwacha roughly. But when I arrived? 1 NPR = 12 Kwacha. Did the math in my head. Moved on. Breakfast was beans and chapati. Simple. Filling. Morning was already hot. Sweating before 9am. Everyone here rides bicycles. Not for sport. For life. Loaded with goods. People. Everything. Felt right at home. Road was empty most of the time. Rode close to Lake Malawi. Lake on one side. Nothing on the other. Beautiful but brutal. Sun was relentless. Stopped at a beach side spot for lunch. Rice and beans again. Watched the water. Thought about how far I've come.
