Southern Railway has released a new schedule for this. These changes will come into effect from today (March 14, 2026). 43 pairs of electric trains operated from coast to Velacherry will now be extended and operated from Parangimalai as the new route between Velacherry and Parangimalai. Apart from this, five pairs of 'shuttle' trains are also operated for the convenience of passengers. Two pairs of trains will be operated between Chennai coast - Velacherry and three pairs of trains will be operated between Velacherry - Parangimalai. This special arrangement has been made as the train maintenance site (Train Shed) is located near the Velacherry Railway Station. According to the new schedule, the train will depart from Velachery at 4:50 am and reach Chennai beach at 5:40 am.
