Army headquarters in Yogyakarta decides to withdraw all trains to Yogyakarta, as they are vital transportation. To this end, Lieutenant Sudadi (Rizawan Gayo), Lieutenant Firman (Pupung Harris), and Sergeant Tobing (Bangun Sugito) are assigned to collaborate with Colonel Gatot Subroto (Sundjoto Adibroto) was assigned to escort all trains departing from Purwokerto station. Sudadi escorted the first train, while Firman and Tobing escorted the last, which was fraught with obstacles. The images depict refugees crowding the trains, Dutch attacks, and more. Conductor Bronto (Deddy Sutomo) is a hero among the railway workers. A love story is interspersed between Firman and the two Retnos, who turn out to be twins. NARRATION EXTRACT: The Proclamation of August 17, 1945, was born as the culmination of the historical struggle for independence pioneered by relentless fighters. However, the Indonesian nation's newly gained freedom from colonial rule suddenly faded. The Indonesian nation was immediately stirred by the arrival of the Dutch NICA troops, who were riding alongside Allied forces. The arrival of the Dutch NICA troops aimed to re-establish Dutch colonial rule in Indonesia. The war to defend Indonesian independence continued, with casualties on both sides until the two governments met at the negotiating table in Linggarjati, south of Cirebon. The Linggarjati Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was signed on March 20, 1947. However, relations between the two countries did not improve due to differing interpretations of certain articles in the agreement. The Republic of Indonesia considered itself a fully sovereign state, while the Netherlands believed that with the approval of the Linggarjati Agreement, the Republic of Indonesia was no longer a sovereign state. Only the Netherlands would have authority over Indonesian territory until the formation of the United States of Indonesia. On July 20, 1947, the Netherlands considered itself no longer bound by the Linggarjati Agreement and would take action against the Republic of Indonesia. Faced with this threat, the Republic of Indonesia was undaunted. The Army and the People were united, ready for war! With the drumbeat of war: FREEDOM OR DIE, the Indonesian Army and people unitedly plunged into battle. The war to defend independence against the occupying Dutch army. The war was yet another test of national unity and the international community's resolve to ensure the Republic of Indonesia's indestructibility! Hopefully, this will be beneficial and deepen our love for our homeland and its railways.
