Scarab 110 Duomo

The title is partly because I like short titles for these, and partly because it puts me in mind of the warning we choristers got—in Florence—about a particular kind of trick that local children of a specified ethnic minority were supposed to do, to do with one child covering what the other child was doing with a newspaper. What the other child was doing was cutting and stealing your purse. This was all in the square of the Duomo, which is a bit of a landmark over there. It wouldn’t surprise me if the vast majority of the specified ethnic minority weren’t at all interested in such Artful Dodgerly hi-jinx; nor was the ethnic identity of the actual perpetrators really ascertained. It’s really just a piece of music. If a kind of sneak piece of music.
