We Toured Blue Ridge Honey Company! ❤️🐝🐝🍯
Join us as we tour Blue Ridge Honey Company in Lakemont, Georgia! We'll look around and meet lots of wonderful people! Summary: If you love honey, beekeeping, handmade products, or places that make you feel like family, Blue Ridge Honey Company needs to be on your list. We drove 90 minutes each way, two days in a row, because one visit just was not enough. Between the tastings, amazing staff, private tour, balms, bee pollen, beekeeping supplies, handmade candles, candle molds, and warm hospitality, it felt like stepping into a honey wonderland. In Full: Wow! We had the best time visiting Blue Ridge Honey Company. I tasted Sourwood honey, purple honey, Tupelo honey, and creamed honey for the first time. The blackberry and blueberry creamed honey were amazing, and the strawberry, pineapple, and habanero infused honey were delicious, too. But the Sourwood honey was hands down the best honey we have ever tasted. It is buttery smooth, slightly nutty, and absolutely lives up to the hype. Their mountain wildflower honey is fantastic as well. Be warned, once the samples start, your wallet may quietly surrender. Keneddi had me try their new Tallow Honey Balm, and she was right: “A little goes a long way!” It was silky, smooth, long lasting, and smelled so good that we actually turned the car around to buy it. We also picked up the passionfruit Whipped Body Butter, which is simply divine. Keneddi was sweet, helpful, and made the visit even more fun. The whole place felt like one big happy family. I asked if everyone was related, and the answer was, “No, but it feels like it.” That says so much. Everyone spoke highly of the owners, Bob & Suzette Binnie, & of each other. Marilyn, Keneddi, JoAnn, Clint, Joe, Lisa, Tera, Bob, Syleena, John, Cody, & everyone we met were welcoming, knowledgeable, & full of smiles. The shop is bright, beautifully laid out, and packed with honey, bee gifts, hats, shirts, books, ceramics, handmade candles, candle molds, candle-making supplies, body creams, balms, lip glosses, hive supplies, and more. Even without an official tour, you can see much of the operation through the large observation windows. Marilyn deserves special recognition. She gave us a free, impromptu private tour, answered all our questions, shared the history of the company, and made us feel truly welcomed. She is knowledgeable, kind, patient, and generous with her time. She also hand makes the candles sold in the shop, and they are beautiful. Marilyn helped make an already wonderful visit unforgettable. We came back the very next day for more goodies, especially Sourwood honey. Tera also helped us save money by pointing us to the larger bag of pellets instead of several smaller bags. Nice upsell, Tera! Lisa was incredibly kind and helpful, too. Between Marilyn and Lisa, we sampled nearly everything and bought most of what we tried. We also briefly met Bob, Syleena, and John during a rainy honey delivery, plus a few kind young gentlemen in the back. If we missed anyone’s name, our apologies. Everyone there helped make the visit special. Finally, if you are considering a Dadant smoker, go for it. We tested it side by side w/ our other smoker, loaded the same way, and the Dadant won hands down. It lights easier, stays lit, and makes the job more pleasant. Thank you to everyone at Blue Ridge Honey Company for the kindness, smiles, tour, samples, and hospitality. Y’all are beautiful people inside and out. To everyone else, go visit. It is absolutely worth the trip. Highly recommended! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!
