The chain stitch edge I'm showing here is a great solution for knitting with the stocking stitch. It can also be used with the French stitch. What's so great about it? The addition of yarn right next to the edge stitch makes it stiff and prevents it from curling up like it might when knitting a chain stitch without this "addition." This makes it a great solution if you're planning to knit a scarf yourself, without using a knitting pattern.
