Satpura Tiger Sighting | Jamani Devi Zone

Satpura surprised us once again. What started as a regular jungle safari in the Jamani Devi buffer zone of Satpura Tiger Reserve quickly turned into one of the most dramatic wildlife experiences we've had in recent times. Dark storm clouds rolled in just as we were about to leave for our afternoon safari. Strong winds, thunder, lightning and relentless rain threatened to cancel the drive altogether. But as every wildlife enthusiast knows, the jungle often rewards patience. In the middle of rapidly changing weather and an unforgettable Satpura landscape, we tracked a dominant male tiger through grasslands and waterbodies under a stormy sky. With thunder echoing across the hills and rain moving through the forest, the sighting felt straight out of a wildlife documentary. This episode also features a comfortable stay at Gaurisaa by Pandav Hotels, a beautiful property overlooking the Denwa backwaters and the Satpura mountain range. The next morning brought a completely different side of the jungle. Bright sunshine replaced the storm clouds, and the forest came alive with gaurs, sambars, peacocks, owlets and kingfishers. And just when we thought the safari was winding down, an unexpected head-on encounter with a male leopard gave us one of the most exciting moments of the trip.
