Jason, 39: "I Don't Even Know What Home Means Anymore" | 6 Months Homeless

In this update, we check back in with Jason, a 39-year-old man who has been living homeless on the streets for the past six months. Jason opens up about the daily struggles of surviving outside, especially during the extreme heat. He talks about being robbed multiple times, having his backpacks, wallet, and IDs stolen, and the frustration of constantly having to start over from nothing. To get by, he flies a sign for food and relies on the kindness of strangers who occasionally bless him with food, drinks, or cash. He shares the emotional toll of homelessness, explaining that he has no family support and has lost all four of his children. Alone on the streets, Jason says his feet are raw from walking so much, and on a good night he only gets about an hour of sleep because it's too dangerous to let his guard down. Perhaps most heartbreaking, Jason says he no longer even knows what the word "home" means anymore. There was a time when he had everything—a house, cars, and a family—but after losing his mother and later his children, he spiraled into the situation he finds himself in today.
