In Muş, with the start of the hay harvesting season, farmers head to the fields early in the morning, cutting grass in pastures and meadows with scythes for their animals. Farmers in Alaniçi village, who earn their living through livestock farming, work intensely in pastures and meadows where tractors cannot enter. Despite the hot weather, the farmers, using scythes to meet their animals' feed needs, help each other throughout the day. Farmer Eşref Gürtürk said he has been cutting grass with a scythe for over 40 years. Explaining that they work together in a cooperative manner, Gürtürk said, "Our lands are hilly, and the flat areas are wet and damp, so tractors cannot enter. Therefore, 5-6 people come together and work in a cooperative way, cutting one person's grass each day. Cutting grass with a scythe is hard work, but we have to do it. We are engaged in livestock farming. We use the grass we cut to meet the feed needs of our animals." Farmer Sabri Ağır said, "I've been mowing grass with a scythe for about 30 years. It's difficult, but we have to. We mow 10 acres of grass a day. We turn this grass into hay and give it to our animals in the winter."
