I wanted to see how well this ancient fly fishing method still works today, so I took a box of old wet flies to some bigger trout water and started swinging them through the current. Wet fly fishing is simple, old-school, and incredibly fun. Cast across the stream, let the fly swing under tension, and wait for a trout to crush it. This trip turned into a fun look at fly fishing history, traditional wet flies, and why swinging flies can still be such an effective way to catch trout.
