In the Hank Williams Tradition (1990) WKNO PBS (Memphis, TN). w/ fundraising commercials
Tomorrow marks the 98th birthday of the late #HankWilliams. Born in #1923, he shaped a new sound in country music that, in 6 short years, rocked the entire music industry. Although he died on New Year's Eve #1952 or New Year's day #1953, he took the world by storm and left behind a legacy that shaped the future of country music, rockabilly, and rock and roll. If not for Hank there might have been a #SunRecords or a #JerryLeeLewis. We can only speculate on what could have been if he would've made it past 29. This video was recorded around 1990 on a Saturday afternoon on the local PBS station, WKNO in Memphis. It features legends such as #RoyAcuff, #WaylonJennings, #WillieNelson, #EmmylouHarris, #ChetAtkins, #KrisKristofferson, and #MinniePearl. It also featured then relatively new singers such as #RickySkaggs and #DwightYoakam. Members of #TheDriftingBowboys were also present on this video. This is not in HD and will show evidence of being from a 30+ year old VHS tape, but I did tend to use good tapes, so it has survived the years pretty well.
