O Aluno Que Todos Achavam Burro Era o Mais Sábio | A Lição Taoista do Silêncio
The wisdom of feigning foolishness is one of the most misunderstood ideas left to us by the ancients—and one of the most liberating. Two thousand five hundred years ago, Confucius had a disciple, Yan Hui, who seemed the dumbest of all: he never argued, never showed up, only listened in silence. Everyone considered him limited. And yet, it was the name of this quiet boy that history preserved as the greatest of his students. In this video, the Taoist Diary journeys through the story of Yan Hui, the opposite fate of Yang Xiu—the genius who displayed cleverness and paid with his life—and Lao Tzu's confession in the Tao Te Ching, when the father of Taoism himself describes himself as the biggest fool in the group. Along the way, the old concept of *大智若愚*, the great wisdom that seems like foolishness, encounters what modern science calls the Dunning-Kruger effect: those who know less tend to speak loudest, and those who truly master something tend towards humble silence. Pretending to be foolish isn't being stupid—it's preserving one's own strength, choosing peace instead of being right, and being the deep water instead of the noisy stream. Tell me in the comments which city you're listening from, and where in your life you're tiring yourself out just to prove you're right.
