Historical Aircraft 009 The Grumman TBF Avenger (designated TBM for aircraft manufactured by General Motors) was a carrier-based torpedo bomber developed for the United States Navy and Marine Corps. It was the heaviest single-engine aircraft in World War II, and also the most important aircraft in Pacific theatre during the war. The Avenger sunk the two Japanese "super battleship": Musashi and Yamato. Video taken at Shellharbour Airport, NSW, Australia during Wings over Illawarra Airshow on 12 November 2022.
