International Feat: “Uruguay Tierra Adentro” Crowned Champion in Turkey with Prominent Río Negro Presence The Uruguay Tierra Adentro folk dance company and school has once again inscribed our country's name on the most glorious pages of international folklore. The Uruguayan group was crowned champion of the prestigious Bursa International Folklore Festival in Turkey, after triumphing over delegations from 16 other nations. This historic victory not only consolidates the company's great success in Eurasian lands—this being their second title of the tour—but also granted them direct qualification to the Istanbul World Folklore Festival, the most important event in Europe for this discipline. The national delegation has strong roots in our department, highlighting the participation of two ambassadors from the region: the musician Piero Vittori from Fray Bentos and the dancer Gonzalo Lafourcade from Nueva Berlin. Both young men are a fundamental part of this team that continues to raise the Uruguayan flag and culture to the highest level on the most demanding stages in the world.
