القصيدة التي أذهلت عقول العرب 📜 سرعة بديهة أبي تمام (إقدام عمرو في سماحة حاتم)
Many have been ignited with a passion to return to the roots of Abbasid poetry and contemplate the eloquent brilliance of the master of meaning, Abu Tammam. In response to this renewed passion, we present to you this rare gem, crafted in the Kamil meter, recited in clear, melodious voices and without musical accompaniment. About the Poet: He is Habib ibn Aws al-Ta'i (Abu Tammam), one of the greatest poets of Arabic and the prince of eloquence in the Abbasid era. He was distinguished by his profound exploration of philosophy and his ability to extract pearls of meaning, to the point that it was said of him: "He could see the meaning from afar, and it would come to him like a bird." The Amazing Story in the Poem: In a scene that embodies one of the greatest instances of mental presence and quick wit in the history of literature; Abu Tammam stood reciting this poem before the prince (Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Mu'tasim), and when he reached his eloquent verse: (The boldness of Amr in the generosity of Hatim... in the forbearance of Ahnaf, in the intelligence of Iyas) (2:33), some envious people interrupted him, objecting: "Do you compare the prince to the uncouth Arabs and those who are beneath him in stature?" Silence fell, and all eyes were fixed on the poet in this predicament. Here his genius shone through; he lowered his head for a moment, then raised it and immediately improvised two verses in which he defended his action with a compelling argument inspired by the Quran: (Do not deny my striking him with a lesser example... a stray example in generosity and courage) (2:45) (For God has set forth the lesser example for His light... of the niche and the lamp) (2:55). The objector was stunned, and the assembly resounded with admiration, until the philosopher al-Kindi turned to those around him, observing, and said: "This young man will die young." Because his soul consumed his body with its intense burning! And his foresight proved true, for Abu Tammam did not live long. The verses of the poem and their meanings: First stanza: Standing at the ruins and the pangs of separation • There is no harm in your pausing for an hour... to fulfill the obligation of the four ruins Explanation: There is no harm in pausing for a moment at these old, dilapidated dwellings to remember those who inhabited them • Perhaps your eye will shed tears... and tears are both a source of comfort and solace Explanation: The poet stands hoping that his eyes will generously shed tears; Some tears betray their owner, while others console him. • The longing lover finds no solace in the languor of passion... Dry tears and cold breath. Explanation: The true lover finds no comfort in someone whose tears are dry and whose emotions are cold. • She said, as the separation became inevitable, "The cup... Has become mixed between the one who pours it and the one who drinks it." Explanation: The beloved recalls the moment of parting and the mingling of feelings until it became impossible to distinguish between the one who offers the bitterness of separation and the one who drinks it. • Do not forget those vows, for... You are called a human being precisely because you forget. Explanation: She advises him to preserve the vows of love and wisely excuses him: Man is called a human being precisely because of his forgetfulness. Second Section: The Status of the Abbasids and the Praised One • He who created all beings provides for them... Their sustenance to ward off the guards. Explanation: God has ordained sustenance for all creatures to suffice them throughout time and the changing ages. • The earth is known to be a village for the heavens... And the sons of hope are their sons. Al-Abbas Explanation: Just as the earth lives by the rain of the sky, those with hopes live by the generosity of the Abbasids. • In every jewel is a shining jewel... and they are the jewel for these people. Explanation: The jewel is the luster of the sword; The Abbasids are the shining jewel that distinguishes humanity. • My ambition was settled by the hope of Ahmad... and my tradition and standard were surrounded by him. Explanation: My aspirations were settled when I made Prince Ahmad my goal and reference in life. • And praise is a garment of beauty that adorns... the finest deeds, not a garment of clothing. Explanation: A good reputation is a garment of moral beauty that adorns great deeds, not merely a piece of cloth. • A branch that grew from Hashim in soil... worthy of it among the plants. Explanation: The praised one is a noble branch that grew from the authentic Hashimite tree and sprouted in the purest soil. • The light of the 'Ararah is his light, and his breeze... spreads lavender amidst the verdant myrtle. Explanation: His face is radiant like the blossom of the 'Ararah, and his good reputation is fragrant like the scent of lavender amidst the verdant myrtle.
