El catolicismo fracasa porque su idea del amor fracasa en una sociedad mercantilizada: Doña Bárbara

From the (Catholic) motto "God is love," we have moved to the (Protestant) slogan "money is our only god." Love of God has become love of money because money is the new and only deity in a world dominated by the market. All other values are secondary, including health. Happiness is the bait, as are leadership, progress, and the very idea of success in a world in ruins. What cannot be bought with money does not exist. And what cannot be commodified should not exist. For this reason, the only love is the love of money, and human love even becomes a problem, an obstacle, and an enemy to be defeated. Today, love has many enemies because it cannot be commodified. Love cannot be bought or sold. It is undoubtedly the only human experience that cannot be bought or sold. And that is something the market cannot tolerate, which is why today love is violently discredited by the press, advertising, ideologies, propaganda, and postmodernism in its entirety. It is even contrasted with freedom, leading people to believe that love compromises or destroys their liberty. This induces a rejection of partnership and marriage, a phenomenon that promotes nuptophobia, that is, the horror of establishing alliances based on human love. This is how the 21st-century human being is condemned to solitude and celibacy, whether they like it or not, to face life's adversities. Their vulnerability, as a solitary being without alliances, is absolute. Chapter 14 of the third part of Doña Bárbara, by Rómulo Gallegos, demonstrates that if love did not exist, human criminality would know no bounds. Beyond Dostoevsky's declaration in The Brothers Karamazov, that "if God does not exist, everything is permitted," we can say today, with Rómulo Gallegos, that if love is suppressed, abolished, or exterminated, evil will know no bounds. Why? Because no one harms the one they love. To suppress love is to open Pandora's box. For this reason, Catholicism was a religion that tried to monopolize, under its exclusive and exclusionary imperative, an absolute and specific idea of love, and made love—and love of God as the prototype of human love—its motto. Until the Lutheran and Calvinist Reformation replaced human—and divine—love with the love of money, which it deified to unprecedented and idealistic extremes. "Fall in love with money," this is Calvin's motto that the 21st century has transformed into the greatest of all commercial slogans and imperatives. If Catholicism is failing as a religion today, it is primarily because its concept of love is incomprehensible in a society commodified to its core. Today, the love of money is stronger than human love. A reading of the penultimate chapter of Doña Bárbara, by Rómulo Gallegos, makes this reflection possible. Once again, literature explains reality far better than religion, politics, and philosophy—the three most imposing forms of idealism used to deceive humankind. Only science and literature will allow you to transcend them. If you so choose. Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/Jes%C3%BAsG...
