In this video, I take you with me to Itaewon, Seoul, to watch the World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina, surrounded by Spaniards, Koreans and football fans from all over the world. What does it feel like to watch your country play a World Cup Final thousands of kilometres away from home? There was tension, a disallowed goal, a red card, endless suffering and one final moment that changed everything. But the most special part came after the final whistle. We took the celebration into the streets of Seoul, hugging complete strangers who suddenly felt like lifelong friends. Because there is an unwritten rule: when two Spaniards meet abroad, especially after winning a World Cup, they are no longer strangers. As someone who is both Spanish and Korean, celebrating Spain’s victory in my father’s country made this night even more meaningful.
