France has finished 4th eight times at Eurovision (most recently in 2024), more than any other country. There is no official 4th place for three of the contests – 1956, 1969, and 2002. In 1956 only the winner, Switzerland, was announced. In 1969, four songs shared first place by achieving the same number of points.
