What More Could You Ask for in a Great Fleta? | Ignacio Fleta 1965 Spruce/Brazilian Rosewood

View the full listing here: https://www.guitarcollection.com/prod... This 1965 Ignacio Fleta e Hijos is a spruce top from the golden era of Fleta guitar making, the 1960s and early 1970s. John Williams was already playing Fletas from 1961, and this one was built just four years later. It is the first spruce-top Fleta from this period we have had the pleasure of getting to know in quite some time, and it does not disappoint. Ignacio Fleta built upon the great Barcelona tradition of makers like Enrique Garcia and Francisco Simplicio, pushing it toward bigger projection and a richer, more powerful concert voice. You can see that heritage in the voluptuous plantilla and the beautiful rosette, and you can hear it in the sound: a deep, authoritative bass with that signature Fleta bite, balanced by the extra sparkle and shimmer a spruce top brings to the trebles. From the very first chord the guitar feels remarkably balanced, responding the same way whether you play pianissimo or fortissimo. In this video, Evan explores the look, construction, and sound of the guitar, takes you through each string individually, and plays musical examples including Julia Florida by Agustín Barrios and Prelude No. 11 by Francisco Tárrega.
