To determine the appropriate plan for each patient, doctors would normally perform three key receptor tests after diagnosis: ER, PR, and HER2, that helps classify the cancer type, and hence the treatment decisions. • Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer (ER+/PR+): Hormone therapy is used to reduce the stimulating effect of estrogen or progesterone on cancer cells. • HER2-Positive Breast Cancer: Targeted medications are used to block the HER2 protein, precisely suppressing the growth and spread of cancer cells. • Triple-Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC): All three receptors test negative. This type grows independently of hormonal signals, tends to be more aggressive, and is currently managed primarily through chemotherapy or other emerging treatments.
