A work accident is defined as an event that occurs during the performance of work for the company or during the work of insured individuals referred to in item VII of article 11 of this law, causing bodily injury or functional disturbance that results in death or the permanent or temporary loss or reduction of work capacity. In addition to accidental acts, the legislation also considers occupational diseases as work accidents. Occupational diseases are pathologies that arise from the performance of work specific to a particular activity and are listed in the respective list prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
