No high commissioners. No direct flights. No trade. The Indus Waters Treaty suspended for the first time in 65 years. Jingoistic statements from both sides war threats over water, nuclear brandishing, media on both sides feeding misinformation to their own audiences. This is where India-Pakistan relations stand in July 2026. Into this environment, 117 eminent personalities wrote a joint letter to both prime ministers demanding dialogue, restored diplomatic ties, and people-to-people contact. It is a significant initiative. But is anyone listening?
