Sani Pass, a name that every adventure rider knows. It’s not just a road, it’s a rite of passage. In this episode, we take on Sani Pass, one of Africa’s most legendary mountain climbs, rising from the South African border at 1,544 m to 2,876 m at the summit of Lesotho. Over just 9 km of gravel, the pass gains more than 1,300 m in elevation through 13 steep switchbacks, brutal gradients, and jaw-dropping views. We battle exhaustion, fading daylight, and a few too many crashes as we climb into the clouds. This is the day that tested both bikes and riders: • Nico’s gout returns mid-ascent. • Kobus rides Sani like it’s his playground. • I take a tumble of my own. • And a Lesotho dog becomes our border guide.
