In this Bonsai video I am doing a quick how to prune a bonsai forest. This is part 3 of the progression of this Japanese Larch Bonsai forest. Slowly we are building a nice branch structure and every year it is getting closer to something I am happy with! Japanese Larch Bonsai Forest Playlist ➡️ • Japanese Larch Bonsai Forest In this video, we do a quick maintenance prune on a Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi) bonsai forest. The goal is to cut the forest back so that, as it grows, it develops finer branches and better ramification year by year. I also demonstrate how to create a small jin on a branch that appears visually heavy at the top, turning it into a feature rather than simply cutting it off. Propagating Larch from Cuttings As a bonus at the end of the video, I show you how to propagate Larch from cuttings. While this is known to be difficult, I’ve had some success using IBA rooting hormone. If you're removing branches anyway, it’s a great opportunity to give propagation a try!
