Answer: Zakat must be paid on money set aside for investment. After all, you are setting this money aside for your children's future. This is considered investment and trade money in Islam. Naturally, zakat must be paid on this money. If you are concerned that if it reaches eighty grams, I will give one-fortieth of this gold, and this will reduce the amount of money. This is the issue that Satan most often deceives people regarding charity and zakat. God insists on giving; giving does not decrease the amount. God (swt) says, "For every charity you give to God, God will surely put something in it afterward." In other words, He replaces it. "For He is the Best of Providers." In a hadith narrated by Muslim, the Prophet (peace be upon him) says: "There is no morning when people wake up without two angels descending from the sky. One says, 'O Allah, replace the wealth of the one who spends.' The other says, 'O Allah, destroy the wealth of the one who does not spend.'" Two angels descend from the sky and pray constantly. Zakat purifies wealth. Allah (swt) says in the verse, "Take charity from their wealth. With that charity, you purify their wealth. You purify them." What is the dirt of wealth, brothers? First, the dirt of wealth is the lack of blessing. In other words, there is wealth, but no blessing. A person comes into my hands with four or five thousand lira, but I don't know where it goes. Let me tell you where the money goes. Allah has withdrawn His blessings and brought about His curse. The money doesn't stay in your hands. Otherwise, it's clear where it goes. On the other hand, another man receives one and a half to two thousand Turkish Lira a month. He makes a living. He supports his parents. He also gives alms. He also educates his children. So, how does this man make a living, my brothers? Because Allah (swt) has blessed that money. The most important thing about money is whether Allah has blessed it or not. The second important thing is whether a person's heart is a slave to money or not. In other words, is it in your hands or in your pocket? A phrase used by the Salaf is, "It's okay if millions are in your hands and not in your heart. Even if a single lira is in your heart, that's a problem for you." How does Allah purify us? First, when we give zakat, He purifies our wealth and makes it blessed. Second, He purifies our hearts. Allah (swt) saves us from being slaves to dinars, dirhams, and velvet. Therefore, paying zakat on wealth does not diminish it, with Allah's permission.
