Expert Ringers Visit Winchester

This weekend W&P Guild’s Winchester District hosted the Summer Meeting of the ASCY (Ancient Society of College Youths). These are elite ringers from far and wide across the U.K. and beyond. Membership of this association is by invitation only. They rang 13 peals around the District over the last 3 days - including Bristol Maximus here at Winchester Cathedral. Video footage here is from the day of the peal and the general ringing the following day before their summer business meeting which was held at St John’s. It was amazing to watch the speed and accuracy of their striking on so many bells. Newer ringers who were chaperoning the tower for the day were in total awe of their skill. Definitely something to aim for!
