Trains of Utah & Colorado 1991, Rio Grande Mainline, Colorado Joint Line! Denver & Rio Grande Western SD50 and SD40T-2 tunnel motors keep the old Rio Grande alive, on lines in Utah and Colorado, during the Spring and Summer of 1991. A very long Amtrak California Zephyr, pulled by EMD F40PH passenger engines, is also featured. On Colorado's Front Range, the Denver-Pueblo Joint Line was hopping with Santa Fe and Burlington Northern coal and mixed freight trains, crossing the mountainous Palmer Divide. Classic locomotive types include Rio Grande SD40T-2, SD50, Burlington Northern GP50, SD40-2, C30-7, and Santa Fe SD40-2 diesels. Leased units include MPI SD45, EMD SD60 and LMX B39-8 units.
