Ground Control RC [ RC Tutorial Series ] [ Tutorial - Upgrade The Motor On Your XK Edge A430 Stunt Plane ] Want a better motor for your XK Edge A430 Stunt Plane? Want more power? Want to replace this motor at 1/3 the cost of the stock motor? Want to use standard props instead of proprietary ones? Want to know how to mount this new motor? Hehehe...so did I! All will be explained in this video! ***Notes: Some things I forgot to mention in the video, you will need to carve out the area at the front of the fuselage and cowling for the motor and mount so the motor does not rub the foam and the cowling will fit properly, I did. Also, depending on the screws used to mount the motor to the plywood you will need to punch a depression in the foam where the screw heads meet the foam. I just used the end of a modeling paint brush to do that so the plywood was completely flush against the foam for gluing. I weighed the plane after my modifications and here are the numbers: Weight of plane without battery or FPV System: 69.2 grams Weight of plane with battery and without the FPV System: 85.9 grams Weight of plane with battery and FPV System: 92.4 grams Thrust of 142.4 grams puts the thrust to weight ratio at: 1.54:1 (with the FPV System) Thrust of 142.4 grams puts the thrust to weight ratio at: 1.65:1 (without the FPV System) ***Maybe I don't need to increase the size of the prop ;-) Build, Fly, Crash.
