INFORMATION Cabanatuan City, located in Nueva Ecija, is known for several historical, cultural, and economic aspects: 1. "Tricycle Capital of the Philippines": Cabanatuan is famous for having one of the largest numbers of tricycles in the country, serving as the main mode of transport in the city. 2. Historical Significance: It played an important role during World War II, notably with the Raid at Cabanatuan where Allied forces rescued prisoners of war from a Japanese camp. The city is home to the General Antonio Luna Monument, dedicated to the famous Filipino revolutionary general who was assassinated there in 1899. 3. Agriculture and Rice Production: As part of Nueva Ecija, often referred to as the "Rice Granary of the Philippines," Cabanatuan plays a significant role in rice production, making it an agricultural hub. 4. Educational Center: The city is known for being a major center for education in the region, housing numerous universities and colleges, such as Wesleyan University and Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST). 5. Economic and Commercial Hub: It is one of the most developed cities in Nueva Ecija, with a growing number of shopping malls, commercial centers, and financial institutions.
