How Baja HQ Built a 2WD F-150 That Runs with Raptors

At first glance, everyone assumes this truck is a Ford Raptor. It’s not. This is a 2WD Ford F-150 that has been transformed into a highly capable Baja chase truck using a smart combination of Gen 3 Raptor components, SVC suspension parts, and carefully selected take-off components to keep the budget under control. Up front, the truck features a McNeil Gen 3 Raptor front-end conversion along with an SVC mid-travel suspension setup. Out back, it utilizes an SVC Gen 3-style 5-link conversion while reusing the truck’s existing SVC bypass shocks and shock mounts from its previous leaf spring setup. Instead of spending a fortune on all-new components, the owner sourced take-off links and built the rear suspension around proven parts, creating a truck that delivers modern Gen 3 Raptor-style performance without the typical Gen 3 Raptor price tag. Sitting on properly cleared 40-inch tires, this truck isn’t just built for looks. It regularly serves as a Baja chase truck for a Trophy Truck race team and is also used to support customer adventures through Baja HQ. The result is one of the most unique F-150 builds we’ve featured: a 2WD truck that routinely runs alongside Raptors and other high-end off-road builds while staying true to a practical budget-minded approach. In this video, we break down the suspension, the Gen 3 conversion, tilt front clip, the 5-link setup, and what makes this truck such a smart build.
