Untitled included Warren Bernhardt on piano, but he seemingly was no longer in the group at this point. Jack did some amazing work in his many years of recording and playing. I don't think that this particular ensemble gets that much attention in the vast body of his work, but it was a fine band who produced some good records. This show had been seeded in 2016 as "The Jack DeJohnette Quartet", but I've changed that to the actual band name that was used on the albums at this time, which was Directions. (...) I'd first heard Jack through a friend who was a terrific drummer. Jack, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Lenny White, and Mitch Mitchell were his "guys" in the early 70's. Jack's band Compost, which also included Bob Moses, was on my turntable a lot back then via their 2 Columbia albums.
