The HaiPhong house project is located in a new residential area in Duong Kinh, HaiPhong, Vietnam house is designed by HGAA Architecture Office. With its simple concrete-colored box-like exterior, giving a local and mysterious feel, it stands out from other houses. The ground floor has a living room and kitchen, the second floor has two bedrooms, a resting space, and the third floor has two bedrooms, a reading room, and a worship room, with a roof garden. Starting from the owner's desire, architects created a central courtyard with greenery and direct connection to the sky. The functional spaces are arranged around this central space, which is the dominant idea of ​​the house. This courtyard area is like a source of energy that sustains the life of the entire house. Natural light can shine into every space while still ensuring privacy. During the day, the house can self-illuminate without human intervention, saving a considerable amount of electricity cost. Through glass doors and large glass walls, people from the inside can observe nature, birds, trees, and the movement of weather outside in real-time. Even on rainy days, one can still enjoy the rain, and on sunny days, the sunlight shines through the trees, onto the floor, and onto the furniture, creating a blurred boundary between inside and outside. This makes the house appear more spacious and enhances the emotions of living inside the house. Every space of the house has interesting viewpoints, creating diversity in the function of use. For instance, one can sit in the kitchen and enjoy tea while admiring the garden instead of sitting in the living room. The dining room can also serve as a guest room, a gathering place for family members, or a workplace. The diversity of the function of use maximizes the use of space. The central courtyard can be considered as a gathering point that attracts people from all spaces, allowing them to see and interact with each other more along the vertical and horizontal directions, bringing people closer together. The HAI PHONG House is built using traditional methods, with concrete beams and columns, brick walls, and nothing too complicated.
