HUME BODY POD VS DEXA SCAN *is the HUME as accurate as they claim??*

The Hume Body Pod and DEXA scan both measure body composition, but they work very differently. DEXA is a clinical method using low-dose X-rays and is widely considered the gold standard, usually accurate within about ±1–2% for body fat. The Hume Body Pod uses multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance (BIA), which estimates fat, muscle, and water through electrical signals, so results can change with hydration, food, and timing. In real-world testing, Hume can sometimes come fairly close to DEXA when used under consistent conditions, but it is not truly equal in accuracy. Differences of a few percentage points are common. So the claim of “DEXA-level accuracy” is partly marketing. It’s useful for tracking trends over time, but DEXA is still more reliable for exact measurements and clinical precision.
