The character has appeared in eight of the nine Halloween films, as well as in several comic books and other media forms. One of the first slasher villains, his murders occur on Halloween, with some films depicting him active in the preceding day or so, targeting family members, but willing to kill everyone that comes in his way. Michael Myers is absent from Halloween III: Season of the Witch, although he makes a small appearance on a TV screen at a bar that the main character goes to.
