In The Mood for Alentejo: Part 2 | Costa Vicentina, The Unspoiled Coast of Southwest Portugal

The Alentejo coast took my breath away. This summer, I went back to the region to create Part 2 of my Alentejo series, featuring Costa Vicentina, a long strip of rough-hewn coastal spectacle that still remains some of the most unspoiled parts of Portugal. This is the wild, wild west of Europe -- vast rural landscapes that open up to a well-protected natural coast, the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentina Coast, featuring undeniably majestic coastlines, dotted with well-preserved historic towns, charming villages and rustic farmlands, humming in their own quiet beauty. On this road trip full of freedom, spontaneity and adventure, we explored the places of Carrapateira, Bordeira, Aljezur, Porto Covo, Vila Nova de Milfontes, Sines, and then went inland to the historic town of Santiago do Cacém, the beautiful farmlands of Cercal do Alentejo and then visited the stunning vineyards of Herdade do Cebolal, where we finished off with a remarkable tasting of some of Alentejo's finest wines.
