How To Fix AC Won't Turn On Problem (2002-2006 T1N Sprinter Van Air Conditioner) by Mercedes, Dodge

The 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 TN1 Sprinter vans have a common issue with the AC system that causes the Air Conditioner to only operate intermittently at first, and if it not repaired, it will eventually stop working all together. The culprit is the relay solder joints on the AC and Heat control head unit. The solder joints get cracks in them and then the relay no longer operates. The repair requires completely desoldering the relay connections, and resoldering them. The first time I did it, I didn't remove the old solder. I just added new solder. That lasted for about 2 years, and the same symptoms reared their ugly head. So I took it apart again, used a solder sucker to completely remove the old defective solder, and resolder fresh. That fix has lasted many years so far. The 2002-2006 TN1 vans were mainly sold as Dodge Sprinter, Freightliner Sprinter, and sometimes as Mercedes Sprinter van.
