Time Travel: at the speed of a bus.
Last spring, Jacob Callaghan and Jesse Sheets drove two 1960s VW buses 2,500 miles to Alaska. They packed Nexus skis and snowboards, a lot of tools, and just enough spare parts to keep things interesting. Progress was slow, breakdowns were expected, but the pace left room for friends, roadside wrenching, and views most travelers overlook. At the end of the day, they discovered how to be comfortable being uncomfortable.
