Beattyville, Kentucky. You’ve probably never heard of it… but some call it the poorest white town in America. That label alone was enough to make me want to see it for myself. So I drove out to Beattyville — tucked deep in the hills of Appalachia — expecting one story… …but found something completely different. Yes, there’s poverty. Yes, there are abandoned homes, struggling businesses, and people fighting just to get by. But that’s not the full picture. What I found were people with pride. People with resilience.
